Pastor Onay Lopez

Senior Pastor

Pastor Onay served as a pastor in the Methodist Church in Cuba for 12 years and was ordained as an Elder there in 2009. He moved with his family to NJ in 2012 and started a new Hispanic congregation from scratch in Bound Brook UMC and later was appointed the Senior Pastor of the church. In 2015 was received as a Full Elder of Greater New Jersey. He graduated from Drew University with an M.Div. in 2017. He served as the pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Paulsboro from 2017 to 2022. He has served as Chair of the National Plan for Hispanic-Latino Ministries and member of the Cultural Competence Task Force, Raritan Valley District Committee on Ordained Ministry, Raritan Valley District Poverty Task Force, and Justice For Our Neighbors. He is passionate about evangelism and church growth. His favorite phrase is “God will make a way where there seems to be no way.” He is married to his wife Odaisy, and they have two children, Gaby, and Matthew.
